Memorial Day

Memorial day was a little different this year, different in a good way. We went to visit the grave site of David's older brother Paul, and both of his grandfathers. It was truly amazing the spirit that we felt when we kneeled down by Paul's grave. Paul died at 16 months, I thought about Sue Ann, losing a son, and being 8 months pregnant with a daughter. I thought about the heartache, and yet the blessing one month later of a little girl. I know that David wishes he would have known Paul, I think sometimes he longs for a brother the way I wanted a sister growing up.

It was neat to have the conversation with the kids about the Plan of Salvation. Keagan went around to all the flowers that were on the ground and carefully placed them on all three headstones. I think this will be a Memorial day that I will never forget.

My mother would be proud of you, as she also decorates the graves of her ancestors with flowers on Memorial Day. It looks like the Burnhams had a child die as well--I didn't know that. And your kids are looking good! (Love the green boots on Riley and the cute little bangs on Maddie.)
